What are the different channels and how do I switch between them?

CaptionMate has two different communication channels, Classic and Cloud. Depending on the strength of your WiFi or cellular connection, one channel might work better than the other. If you are experiencing connectivity issues, we recommend changing your channel to see if this improves the quality of your connection.

To change your communication channel on an iPhone

  1. Open the CaptionMate app

  2. Tap Settings

  3. Under Calls, tap Channel

  4. Select the channel you would like to switch to

  5. You will be prompted to reset your call forwarding to ensure that incoming calls are captioned. Tap Next

  6. Select your phone carrier

  7. Tap Activate

  8. Follow the prompt to call the indicated number

  9. Depending on your carrier, you may see a confirmation page

  10. Tap Close

To change your communication channel on an Android

  1. Open the CaptionMate app

  2. Tap Settings

  3. Under Calls, tap Channel

  4. Select the channel you would like to switch to

  5. You will be prompted to reset your call forwarding to ensure that incoming calls are captioned. Tap Next

  6. Select your phone carrier

  7. Tap Activate

  8. Your phone will automatically begin the setup process. Depending on your carrier, you may see a confirmation message.
